Environmental

We are monitoring our Scope I and Scope II emissions and developing a process to understand our Scope III impacts better. Progress has been made through our updated third-party verified and certified HPD (Health Product Declaration) and EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) documents for our Greenscreen trellises. As we continue our Life Cycle Analysis for each of our materials, we'll be able to provide Environmental Product Declarations to our customers better. Manufacturing products with superior quality and materials leads to longevity of use, and we're striving to be an industry leader! We will continue to report on our progress with annual sustainability reports starting in 2024.

Economic

Our products enhance the projects they are used in, and we’re dedicated to providing value to our customers – in both craftsmanship and construction. Approximately 80% of our production occurs in North America, with locally sourced material where possible. Like our manufacturing processes, we continue working our supply chain to minimize our impact.

Community

Tournesol embraces our corporate responsibility to our employees and our communities – to do what is good and right to the best of our ability. We’ve traditionally done well for our employees, as we carefully measure employee satisfaction surveys for our operations team and our business team members. However, we know we can do better and strive for a culture of continuous improvement in safety and employee well-being. Our community outreach is now coming into focus and will be an essential part of our future activities. That is why we proudly announce that 2024 will mark the first year of our new pro-bono and low-bono program, Seeds of Change.

Meet Our Sustainability Coordinator

Charlene Mortale is a passionate advocate for sustainable landscape architecture, dedicated to creating positive environmental and social impacts within the organization. She is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design and Construction (LEED AP BD+C) with her Bachelor of Architecture degree from SCI-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture). Charlene is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in design, project management, and sustainability. For the past 16 years, she helped Greenscreen® become established as the leading manufacturer of architectural trellising systems, promoting sustainability principles and best practices within the commercial landscape industry. She continues to further her expertise in sustainability principles and practices as the newly appointed Sustainability Coordinator for Tournesol Siteworks.

In 2023, Tournesol added sustainability as one of our top initiatives, with three areas of focus – environmental, economic, and social – mutually reinforced. We formed a cross-functional committee to establish goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and incorporate them into our long-term corporate plans. We look forward to updating all our key stakeholders on our progress as we evolve.

Let's work together for a better future.
